How and Where Can I Join?

The 62nd Infantry Battalion are currently recruiting men and women on a part-time basis between the ages of 17 and 34 (under 35) who are interested in becoming a soldier of the Irish Army Reserve.


The 62nd Infantry Battalion is split into six companies covering the area of South Dublin City, South County Dublin, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Bray, and East Wicklow.

The battalion's training locations are:

Dublin

  • Rathmines, Dublin 6
  • Baldonnel
  • Dun Laoghaire

Wicklow

  • Arklow
  • Bray
  • Tinahely
  • Wicklow Town

If you're interested in joining - or just seeing what it's like, you should come down on Tuesday nights between 8 and 9 and Sunday Mornings (Cathal Brugha Barracks) or Wednesday nights between 8 and 9 (Baldonnel, Dun Laoghaire, Bray, Wicklow) between 8 and 9. A Coy in Baldonnel also train on Sunday mornings. It is recommended that you phone in advance to confirm training times.

It is recommended that you should ring ahead to check training times etc.


Who can join?

Men and women between 17 and 34 years of age (under 35). An extension of the upper age limit is allowed in the case of certain former members of the Permanent Defence Force or of the Reserve of Men (First Line). All applicants must be a minimum of 158cm (5'2") in height, in good health and of good character and be willing to attend and train regularly.
