Small Arms and Support Weapons

The infantry battalion is equipped with an array of small arms and support weapons from the 9mm pistol to the 81mm mortar. Every member of the infantry is trained on section small arms: the Steyr AUG assault rifle which is the personal weapon of each soldier and General Purpose Machine Gun or Light Machine Gun which is the main fire support of the infantry section.

Each infantry company is equipped with its own support weapons including the Vektor 60mm Mortar and Carl Gustaf 84mm Anti Tank Recoilless Rifle. At battalion level the support weapons include the .5 Heavy Machine Gun and the 81mm Mortar. This array of weapons help the infantry battalion to operate independently in the field and face the many tactical situations which may arise during operations.

As a member of an infantry battalion you will be trained on the various weapons required for your role in the Army Reserve, beginning with the Steyr AUG and progressing up during further training and courses.

Steyr AUG

GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun)

BAP (Browning Automatic Pistol)

84mm Anti Tank Recoilless Rifle
